Innovation Pointe

Innovation Pointe is a public makerspace filled with the tools and technology to help you create, make, and innovate!

What is a Makerspace?

A library makerspace is a “Do-it-Yourself” learning center where patrons of any experience level gain practical skills through hands-on learning. Each library makerspace is uniquely designed and resourced based on community needs, interests, and staff capabilities. Patrons can utilize library equipment and software to turn their creative ideas into physical objects to share with their friends, family and community. Library makerspaces offer access to the building blocks of creative making. Innovation Pointe provides education and program experiences to empower patrons in making full use of makerspace resources through skill-building. Innovation Pointe fulfills MidPointe Library’s mission of, “Enriching our community through access and experience,” by providing access to a variety of tools and equipment that allow patrons to make, explore, and tinker.

How Does Innovation Pointe Work?

Patrons can utilize equipment without charge after acquiring necessary knowledge, skills, and safety training. Machines are time-limited and some have material costs associated with their use.

Innovation Pointe welcomes patrons of all ages, though minors under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian so they can have the best possible experience.

How Do I Book an Appointment?

Click on the location you would like to visit and click the “Book an Appointment” button.

Select an appointment time to register. You will be prompted to sign in with your library card number and pin. A library card is required to book an appointment.

Fill out the registration form and a confirmation email containing your booking details will be sent to you.

We allow a maximum of 2 adult guests per appointment. Guests must have a library card. All guests must be working on the same project/equipment. Interested in bringing a child with you? Contact us.

All patrons must have a makerspace liability waiver on file to use the makerspace equipment. This will be signed in person at your first appointment. Minors must have a parent or legal guardian present to co-sign the waiver. Both parties must have a library card.

On your first appointment with each piece of makerspace equipment, you are required to do standard operation & safety training with an Innovation Pointe staff member. This is done individually for each machine and times may vary based on machine complexity. Please note that this training may take most of your first appointment. After you complete a machine training, it will be added to your record for future visits. You will only need to complete this training once on each piece of equipment.

Walk-in appointments may be available but are not guaranteed. Please ask a staff member about our standby list if you do not have a reservation. You can only be added to the standby list in person.
