Starting Pointe

The journey to early literacy STARTS now! MidPointe Library System wants to join you in helping your child develop a love of reading and share ways to build an early foundation for lifelong learning.

Enrollment in Starting Pointe is absolutely free and available for parents/guardians and their babies ages six months and younger and living in MidPointe Library System’s service area.

Enrollees will receive a Starting Pointe literacy kit, mailed directly to their home. The kit includes a board book, items to engage your little one while sharing stories, literacy tips specifically tailored for the age of your child, information about community resources (including how to register for the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio) and a MidPointe Library System card for your baby!

Parents/Guardians will also have the opportunity to register to receive “Bright by Text” notifications. This service shares age-specific parenting advice and tips, as well as library information via text messages.

MidPointe also knows how valuable a lifelong relationship with your library can be, so even when your little one isn’t so little anymore, we will be in touch to share new literacy tips for growing kids, a special gift to celebrate baby’s first birthday and more!

This project was supported in part by federal Institute of Museum and Library Services funds, granted through the State Library of Ohio. More about this initiative:

MidPointe Library System is partnering with the Lane Libraries to launch a brand-new initiative for the littlest readers in the region. “Born to Read Butler County” will encourage new parents and caregivers to receive a free kit of early literacy-promoting goodies at the time of their child’s birth.
